International Biomass Expert 

 

Carla de Carolis  is an International Expert in the Biomass and Bioenergy Sector. Her international activities  are primarily focused on EU projects relating to:

-  Sustainable biomass analysis to support energy strategy planning for          Governments,
-  Renewable Energy Implementation, 
-  R&D innovation technologies for a better exploitation of the RES, with       focus on the biomass and bioenergy sector.

 

She's used to working in international context in order to give strong contribution as technical assistance for RES development in Energy Policy of Developing Countries.

 

Her main business is focused in the Analysis -> Planning -> Integration ->Implementation on large scale of "RES - Renewable Energy Sources_Biomass" by using sustainable approaches.

She is collaborating for different public and private international institutions, such as:

  • NIRAS  - International Company
  • Adetefe(French Agency for International Cooperation): she is working to support their Energy planning and policy for Governments (Egypt).
  • MRC - Spain/Italy(International company working to offer services and transaction advisory businesses in energy sector): expert for the biomass sector.
  • ITABIA (National Association of Biomass, Italy): member of steering committee in order to support European Project in Biomass sector.
  • UNIVPM - (Dept of Agricultural Engineering placed in Ancona, Italy): research consultant for biomass projects.
  • EUKNOW - Brussel (Company working in research and development to support European SMEs and research institutions): consultant for implementation of EU project in Energy and Environment sector.

She is also collaborating with companies working in the Advanced Biofuel sector by UCO - Used Cooking Oils, in close collaboration with EWABA  - European Waste Advanced Biofuels Association.  

 

She worked for DG Research & Innovation Infrastructures of the EU Commission as Reviewer of research project focused in "European Research Infrastructure for Thermotechnical Biomass Conversion", [FP7 - EU Funding Programme].   

 

She also worked for CTI - Italian Termotechnical Committee, supporting  EU projects for the development of biomass model, guidelines, and technical standards UNI, CEN, ISO in energy and environment sectors.

As an author, she has published several articles, papers and reports on environmental and energy policies, Biomass for energy uses and has made several presentations at national and international Congresses on these topics both at a national and EU level.

Awards


After a full University Degree in Agricultural Science and Technology (5 years), the Ph.D. on “LCA - Life Cycle Analyses of the bioenergy chains by rural residues” granted by University Polytechnic of Marche (2006).

 

During  the Ph.D, she's got a European Marie-Curie Fellowship for project in biomass co-firing systems at  IFRF - International Flame Research Foundation carried out in  the Netherlands. 

Recently, She is working on "Residues and waste valorization in the context of the Circular Bioeconomy".
